Humans are relational beings. We are born into and spend our lifespans in family systems, communities, social networks, and political systems that impact how we understand ourselves, others, and the world around us.
When coping with life’s struggles, despite the joys and triumphs along the way, we sometimes lapse into behaviors and modes of processing that impede our mental, emotional, and relational well-being. This might look like anxiety, depression, stress, relational conflict, substance abuse, and/or unprocessed trauma.
Psychotherapy provides a nurturing space for you to explore these matters while developing self-awareness and strategies for acceptance and change.
You can read more about me and my areas of specialization to help determine fit. I also offer a free, 15-minute Zoom consultation if interested.
With individuals I work from a depth, systemic, and relational perspective, acknowledging the complex interdependencies that create and perpetuate behaviors.
For example, while we might use CBT as a technique to help regulate anxiety, we will also explore the underlying causes of that anxiety: for instance, how might early childhood attachment be at play? To what extent are racial, economic, or gender stressors impacting your experience?
With couples and families, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based model that helps shift relational dynamics by uncovering common emotional patterns.
I offer online therapy for residents throughout the state of Texas and in-person sessions at my office in Austin.
